Green Building Rebates - Austin Texas

Below are a comprehensive list of the type of rebates you might find on the Austin city website.  Unfortunately, we have not been able to find a comprehensive list there.  We have to look each type of rebate up. We are not keeping this list up-to-date, but we sampled it January, 2012 and it was representative of the rebates being given. Search the web for rebates if you are upgrading or considering improvements for your home or business.

Austin Energy rebates and tax credits

Central Air Conditioner / Heat Pump 20% of the cost of certain improvements-up to $1575.
Rebates: To $650
Tax Credits: To $300
Energy Saving: To $270 annually

Toilet replacements up to $200 per toilet for some models.

$150 clothes washer rebate in 2 parts:$100 water rebate plus $50 energy rebate

Tax Credits - $500
These federal tax credits apply to windows, doors, roofs, insulation, HVASC and no-solar water heaters, up to $500 (maximum total credit for all improvements above). Additional credits for solar water heaters and photovoltaic systems are also offered.

Austin Energy and Texas Gas Service offer rebates averaging $200 for a total improvement package of efficient HVAC, ducts attic insulation and low E glass windows and solar shading.
